The association Annual Meeting was held on February 16, 2006.

Bob Bosse' briefed membership on the State of the Associaton and stressed the need for financial resources via dues update and/or donations.

Gene Flynn reported on the status of the so-called "Property Tax Issue" which is still in the Texas Supreme Court after having been found positively in the lower courts of the state bvut the Appraisal Districts of Cameron and Hidalgo County are persistent in their attempts to make an illegal taxation issue legal.

Election of officers took place and the officers for the coming year are listed on our home page.

There is STILL the need for a spirited letter writing campaign addressed to as many legislators as poasible and stressing the need for corrective legislation to preven evictions except for good cause, to prevent retaliatory evictions, to give the right of tenants in rental community the first option to purchase their community when it is put up for sale and expecially so if the sale is for a change in land use which might cause a mass eviction of tenants, to name an enforcement agency so as to eliminate the need of court action at considerable expense.

Legislators have egos . . . they love having their mailboex filled. It gives them a feeling of accomplishment or even importance so please fill them up and, just maybe, they will pay attention to the very basic protective needs of our members and others who may be living in Manufactured Homes/RVs in rental communities.

Those of you who are in arrears in their dues, please make an effort to bring them up to date and consider adding a donation. Charter Members: You have received considerable benefit from you initial $5.00 one time dues payment. Those of you who have responded to pleas for donations, we tender our heatfelt appreciation. Those who have not, please consider doing so. Those of you who may have diverted your resources toward the continuation of the tax law suit . . . we understand but please remember that it was THIS association which spent thousands of dollars for the legal research which enabled you successes in the lower courts. Do not abandon your association when resources are needed for legislative relief.
